AI Infrastructure Engineer, Junior to Senior
Build real AI infrastructure. Not slides. Not theory. Actual machines.
- Location: Ballasalla, Isle of Man, on-site
- Employment type: Full-time (37 hours a week), Permanent
- Salary: Competitive; tailored to individual candidates’ assessed experience and capability
- Applications: Open on a rolling basis
- Start date: Immediate / flexible for the right person
Danucore is building high-performance AI compute infrastructure on the Isle of Man: bare-metal GPU servers, high-density NVMe storage, fast networking, and the physical systems needed to run serious AI workloads reliably.
We’re looking for practical, technically curious people who love hardware and are obsessed with AI.
You might already have years of experience in large-scale compute, networking, Linux infrastructure, HPC, or GPU servers.
Or you might be the person who builds gaming PCs, runs a homelab, fixes everyone’s machines, experiments with NAS boxes, switches, firewalls, Proxmox, Linux, GPUs, water cooling, or anything with cables and blinking lights.
Both routes are valid.
What matters most is that you are careful, hands-on, curious, and genuinely interested in making complex infrastructure work properly.
The Role at Each Level
We are recruiting one engineer now, at whichever level fits best: from a junior engineer who wants structured training and mentoring, through to an experienced infrastructure engineer who can help design standards, lead deployments, optimise systems, and shape the way Danucore builds AI compute.
Junior AI Infrastructure Engineer
For someone with strong practical skills, a love of hardware, and the desire to learn quickly.
You may have experience from:
- Building gaming PCs or workstations
- Running a homelab
- Building NAS/storage systems
- Installing Linux
- Configuring routers, switches, firewalls, or Wi-Fi networks
- Repairing PCs, laptops, servers, or electronics
- Helping with IT support or small business infrastructure
You don’t need to know everything already. You do need to care, learn fast, follow instructions, document properly, and take pride in clean, reliable work.
AI Infrastructure Engineer
For someone already comfortable with servers, networking, Linux, and physical infrastructure.
You’ll be involved in:
- Building, testing, and deploying GPU servers and storage nodes
- Maintaining and improving compute, networking, and storage systems
- Managing server interfaces, power, cooling, and cabling
- Monitoring infrastructure health and performance
- Troubleshooting hardware and network issues
Senior AI Infrastructure Engineer / AI Infrastructure Lead
For someone who can take ownership of larger parts of the infrastructure build.
You may help define:
- Rack layouts
- Server build standards
- Burn-in and test procedures
- Networking and cabling standards
- Storage architecture
- Provisioning processes
- Monitoring and alerting
- Spares and maintenance procedures
- Power, cooling, and operational resilience
- Deployment planning and team leadership
This is a hands-on role, not a purely managerial one. We want senior people who still like being close to the machines.
What You’ll Work On
- Bare-metal GPU servers
- High-density NVMe storage systems
- Linux server builds
- High-performance networking
- BMC/IPMI/iDRAC-style management interfaces
- Structured cabling and labelling
- Burn-in testing and diagnostics
- Firmware, BIOS, and hardware configuration
- Power distribution, rack layout, and cooling considerations
- Monitoring, maintenance, and operational procedures
- Physical security, spares, asset tracking, and documentation
These are real infrastructure roles. Some days you may be configuring Linux and networking. Other days you may be racking heavy servers, tracing cables, testing GPUs, updating firmware, or diagnosing a strange hardware fault.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on experience level, responsibilities may include:
- Assemble, rack, cable, configure, and maintain GPU and storage servers
- Install GPUs, NVMe drives, RAM, NICs, rails, PDUs, fans, and related hardware
- Perform hardware burn-in, stress testing, diagnostics, and quality assurance
- Install and configure Linux operating systems and server management tools
- Configure BIOS, firmware, RAID/HBA settings, BMC, IPMI, iDRAC, iLO, or Redfish-style interfaces
- Install, test, label, and manage copper and fibre network cabling
- Support GPU, storage, management, and high-speed network fabrics
- Maintain clean, tidy, safe, and well-documented infrastructure spaces
- Build repeatable checklists for server deployment, testing, repair, and maintenance
- Troubleshoot hardware, network, power, cooling, and performance issues
- Support the day-to-day running of our AI compute infrastructure, including access control, spares, physical security, cooling, and power
- Optimise power consumption and contribute to energy-efficient practices
- Work with software, AI, and systems engineers to make the infrastructure faster, more reliable, and easier to operate
What We’re Looking For
We’re interested in people who have some of the following:
- Strong practical hardware skills
- Experience building PCs, servers, workstations, NAS systems, or homelabs
- Understanding of CPUs, GPUs, RAM, NVMe, PCIe, NICs, PSUs, fans, cooling, and cabling
- Comfort working with Linux, or a serious willingness to learn
- Basic networking knowledge: IP addresses, switches, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, routing, copper, fibre
- Methodical troubleshooting skills
- Careful documentation habits
- Pride in clean cabling, tidy racks, labelled equipment, and repeatable processes
- Ability to work on-site in Ballasalla
- Right to work in the Isle of Man (or eligibility for an appropriate work permit)
- Willingness to do physical infrastructure work, including lifting, racking, cabling, and working in plant/server spaces
- Calmness under pressure when systems need fixing
Formal qualifications are useful, but they are not the main filter. Practical ability, curiosity, reliability, and care matter more.
Nice to Have
None of these are essential, but they would be useful:
- Experience with GPU servers or AI/ML infrastructure
- Large-scale compute, MSP, telecoms, enterprise IT, or HPC experience
- Linux administration
- Proxmox, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, MAAS, Foreman, Cobbler, or PXE provisioning
- ZFS, Ceph, RAID, NVMe, object storage, or distributed storage
- High-speed networking: 10G, 25G, 40G, 100G, InfiniBand, Omni-Path, fibre optics
- Monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Netdata, Zabbix, LibreNMS, or similar
- Scripting in Bash, Python, or PowerShell
- Experience with iDRAC, iLO, IPMI, Redfish, or vendor server management tools
- Understanding of power, cooling, airflow, UPS systems, PDUs, and rack design
- Electrical, mechanical, cooling, or facilities awareness
The Kind of Person Who Will Thrive Here
You probably:
- Like solving awkward practical problems
- Notice when cables are messy
- Get annoyed when machines are badly labelled
- Enjoy making things faster, cleaner, safer, and more reliable
- Read specs before buying hardware
- Have strong opinions about airflow
- Can follow a process but also improve it
- Are happy learning from people who know more than you
- Are also happy teaching people who know less than you
- Care about doing things properly, not just getting them working once
- Have a genuine interest in AI and can demonstrate using AI tools to increase productivity
You do not need to be polished corporate IT. You do need to be dependable, careful, honest about what you know, and serious about learning.

Equal opportunities
Danucore is committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates. Reasonable adjustments are made for applicants with disabilities.
Your information and how we decide
The assessment is a conversation with an AI assistant. We record the conversation, your name and contact details, and any links you choose to share, and we use them only to consider you for a role at Danucore. The portal uses AI to assess your answers against the experience the role needs and to rank applications; it also checks for answers that appear to have been written by AI. The AI does not decide. At each review, a member of the Danucore team looks at every application on the ranked list, with the AI’s summary, and decides who is shortlisted; shortlisted applications are then read in full by the manager recruiting for the role. We keep application records for six months after you apply and delete them at our next monthly review. If you would like us to keep your details for up to two years so that we can contact you about other roles, email jobs@danucore.com. You can also email jobs@danucore.com at any time to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to ask for a person to look again at any outcome. Danucore Limited is the data controller, under Isle of Man data protection law. We use your information to consider your application, at your request, and in Danucore’s legitimate interest in recruiting the right people. It is held on Danucore’s own servers in the Isle of Man and the UK, and the AI assessment runs on Danucore’s own systems; we do not share it with anyone outside Danucore unless the law requires us to. The six-month limit applies to the conversation transcript as well as the rest of your application. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Isle of Man Information Commissioner.
